Are the shades (ghosts) in Epic unaware of the presence of Odysseus?

In "The Underworld" song, Odysseus meets 559 people (the soldiers, Polites, and his mother). And... something about their lines suggests to me they might be unaware of Odysseus' ship.

I'm not sure if the soldiers are unaware because they refer to Odysseus as "you" as they are directly talking with him. Or it could be that the soldiers are thinking of Odysseus because they are recalling their helplessness while they were killed.

If Polites noticed the ship, then his reaction is weird in this context. However, at the same time, he might have thought there was no time for a proper discussion and he decided to just remind Odysseus to be kind in the hope this would help him.

Now, again, considering the context, Anticlea's reaction (Ody's mom) would have been weird if she actually saw him. And the "I'm right here, mom/Can't you see? I'm (waiting)" heavily suggests that she doesn't see him. But at the same time, some of Anticlea's lines seem like responses to Odysseus's lines:

"I took too long" responded with "I'll always love you"

"And ventured too far" responded with "I'll stay in your heart"

As if Anticlea is trying to comfort her son.

Now, in "No Longer You", Tiresias (the prophet), absolutely sees Odysseus by the sound of it.

So... are the shades unaware, or they are aware but cryptic?
